Washington Nationals: Road Trips, Dingers & Dumpster Fires

If you’ve ever wondered what a rollercoaster on fire looks like, meet the Washington Nationals. With a 38-54 record, this team has been trying their best, if their best was legally classified as “questionable baseball conduct.”

Mike Soroka takes the mound with a 5.40 ERA, which is basically like lighting a scented candle and hoping it repels home runs. He’s 3-6 on the season, which sounds like the win-loss record of a guy trying to fix a broken lawn mower blindfolded.

Still, they’ve got James Wood, who’s hit 24 home runs and apparently swings with the power of someone late for happy hour. Josh Bell has been seeing beach balls at the plate lately, going 13-for-32. Maybe he’s just vibing now that there’s zero pressure left.

St. Louis Cardinals: Homefield, Hope, and Hanging On

The Cards come in with a 49-44 record and are clinging to playoff relevance like your uncle clings to stories about gas prices in the 80s. Miles Mikolas gets the start. With a 5.26 ERA, he’s either due for dominance or disaster, flip a coin and pray.

Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson are doing their best impressions of clutch hitters lately, and the Cards have gone 37-7 when they score five or more runs. The key here? Don’t suck early and they might just pull it off.

They’re 4-1 in the season series vs. the Nats, so history is on their side. Then again, so was the Titanic until it wasn’t.

Betting Angle & Prediction

St. Louis is the favorite for good reason, they’re actually trying. Washington’s bullpen has all the structural integrity of a paper towel in a hurricane. Expect runs, awkward pitching changes, and at least one outfielder misplaying a routine fly ball.

Final Score Prediction: Cardinals 7, Nationals 4
Bets Bet: St. Louis -1.5 (+145) – (Book it like your rent depends on it. And maybe it does.)
Total:  Over 9.0 (-102)

Buckle up. It’s gonna be a wild, semi-functional ride in St. Louis tonight.
