Miami Marlins: Hold the Junk, Please
The Marlins return home for the series finale and are on the verge of being swept faster than your buddy’s losing parlay. Sitting at 55-57, Miami has been the very definition of “meh,” especially at home, where they’ve posted a shrug-worthy 27-31 record.
Their offense? Surprisingly decent when they actually wake up. They’re 43-19 when getting 8+ hits, which sounds great until you realize they need to remember how to hit in the first place. Kyle Stowers is doing his part, smacking 25 homers and batting .293 while probably wishing he played for a team that didn’t need CPR every third inning.
They’ll send Janson Junk to the mound, which is either his actual name or the cruelest nickname since “No-Hit Nicky.” To be fair, Junk has been solid this season at 5-2 with a 3.86 ERA and a WHIP lower than most pitchers’ walk rate at Starbucks.
But the bullpen? Let’s just say if the Marlins are leading late, you might want to hedge that bet — hard.
Houston Astros: Sweep Dreams and No Sleep
The Astros (64-50) are cooking in the AL West kitchen and the final course might be a Miami sweep. Enter Spencer Arrighetti (1-1, 5.59 ERA), the righty who’s slowly simmering his way into big-league rhythm. He’s got a lively fastball, occasional command issues, and just enough chaos to make every pitch an adventure.
But this isn’t his first rodeo anymore, and if the bullpen stays awake and the bats don’t nap, Arrighetti has just enough edge to keep Miami guessing. The Astros lineup has been hot and cold lately, but they’ve still got enough pop to make pitchers regret life choices, especially in early innings.
Yainer Diaz and Jose Altuve are hitting like they drank straight from Nolan Ryan’s water bottle. They’ve combined for clutch knocks all series, and if the top of the lineup shows up, this game could end early for Miami.
The Betting Angle
Houston comes in as the short moneyline favorite at -109 and with the sweep on the line, you better believe they’re treating this like a playoff game. Total’s set at 8.0 and honestly, if the bullpens get involved early, the over could hit before you finish your nachos.
Final Prediction
The Marlins make it mildly interesting early, but once Junk hits the fourth inning and the Astros lineup sees him for the second time, it’s curtains.
Bring out the broomsticks, baby. Houston, we have no problem.
