Baltimore Orioles Betting Outlook
The Orioles head into Saturday night as -123 moneyline favorites with the total set at 9.0, despite being down several key players. Baltimore has leaned on an endless carousel of call-ups this season, setting a franchise record by using their 63rd different player on Friday. That cameo, however, paid off, Vimael Machin homered in his debut appearance, giving the lineup a much-needed boost.
The injuries keep stacking up, though. Jordan Westburg is sidelined with an ankle sprain, and Thursday’s starter Brandon Young also landed on the IL. Still, Baltimore’s offense has found ways to piece things together.
Dean Kremer (9-9, 3.97 ERA) takes the mound, looking for double-digit wins for the second time in his career. He’s dominated Houston historically, going 4-0 with a 1.47 ERA in five starts. That makes Baltimore a solid play at home.
Houston Astros Betting Outlook
Houston has taken the first two games of this four-game set and looks to keep rolling Saturday. They just added veteran closer Craig Kimbrel, who may see high-leverage work soon after joining from Baltimore. His 440 career saves speak for themselves, and Astros manager Joe Espada is eager to see what he can provide.
Cristian Javier (1-1, 3.38 ERA) gets the ball for his third start of the year. He was effective against Baltimore last Sunday, allowing just one run in three innings, but still took the loss in a blowout defeat. Javier has pitched well in his career against the Orioles, with a 2.10 ERA in nearly 26 innings, but he’ll need run support to make that matter.
Prediction
Baltimore is banged up but still feisty, and Kremer has flat-out owned the Astros in previous starts. Houston’s bullpen upgrade adds intrigue, but Saturday feels like a bounce-back spot for the O’s.
