Philadelphia Phillies: Revenge Tour Continues

The Phillies rolled into Los Angeles looking like a team carrying emotional baggage from last year’s playoff disaster. Then Saturday happened, and suddenly everyone in Philadelphia started acting like therapists are optional again.

Orion Kerkering, remembered mostly for that painful NLDS error against the Dodgers last postseason, somehow survived another stressful inning and even got credited with the win. Baseball is truly the only sport where chaos gets rewarded with statistics.

Philadelphia rallied late with Bryce Harper delivering a clutch RBI single before Edmundo Sosa launched a two-run homer that probably caused several Dodgers fans to aggressively refresh their betting apps.

The funniest part? This Phillies team started 9-19 before Don Mattingly took over. Since then, they’ve gone 21-9 and suddenly look like baseball’s version of a reboot nobody expected to work.

Now rookie Andrew Painter takes the mound carrying a rough 1-5 record, which sounds horrifying until you realize his recent ERA is actually solid. Baseball records are basically fake IDs for pitchers anyway. Painter has quietly allowed just two runs over his last 6 1/3 innings and finally looks more comfortable facing major league hitters.

Still, asking a rookie to deal with Shohei Ohtani in Los Angeles feels slightly unfair. That’s like giving someone their first driving lesson during NASCAR qualifying.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Ohtani Ruins Parlays

The Dodgers lost Saturday and immediately reacted like the world had ended despite still having approximately 97 All-Stars in the lineup.

Shohei Ohtani continues hitting baseballs like he personally hates gravity, batting .392 over his last 16 games with four homers and 15 RBIs. At this point, Bovada sportsbooks should honestly just create an “Ohtani annoys opposing fanbases” prop every night.

Los Angeles sends Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the mound hoping for revenge against the Phillies after last year’s postseason struggles against them. Since a rough outing earlier this month, Yamamoto has looked dominant again, allowing just one run in back-to-back seven-inning starts.

The Dodgers offense should also feel much more comfortable facing a right-hander after smashing four home runs off Zack Wheeler Friday night. Saturday’s quiet offensive showing mostly felt like one of those weird baseball nights where every bettor starts yelling at televisions by the seventh inning.

Even Dave Roberts admitted hitters are finally “feeling synced up again,” which usually means danger for opposing pitchers and emotional damage for underdog bettors.

LVSB Final Score Prediction

Philadelphia keeps this competitive because the Phillies refuse to die quietly, but Yamamoto and the Dodgers offense eventually take control late.

The Dodgers bounce back, Ohtani stays ridiculous, and Los Angeles avoids another weekend meltdown on sports radio.

Final Score: Dodgers 7, Phillies 4
Lean: LA Dodgers -1.5 (-105)

Over 9.0 (-105)
