The Altuve Temper Meter
Jose Altuve reminded everyone Friday that baseball is an emotional sport. After two early strikeouts, he launched his helmet, slammed his bat, and looked ready to challenge the dugout water cooler to a fight. A few innings later, he was the hero again.
Altuve snapped an 0-for-12 slump with his 8th home run of the season and finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs in Houston’s 9-3 victory. The veteran is batting .234 with 20 RBIs in 54 games, but perhaps all he needed was a good old-fashioned equipment tantrum.
Houston’s Mission: Find May Arrighetti
Spencer Arrighetti (7-2, 2.57 ERA) takes the mound for Houston. Back in May, he looked like a Cy Young candidate, posting a 0.93 ERA across five starts and collecting AL Pitcher of the Month honors.
June has been a different story. Arrighetti owns a 6.19 ERA this month and is still searching for his first win since the calendar flipped. The good news? He has handled Cleveland well throughout his career, posting a 2.77 ERA in three appearances against the Guardians.
Cleveland’s Five-Inning Special
Joey Cantillo (5-3, 4.38 ERA) gets the call for Cleveland. The left-hander has become baseball’s version of a limited-time offer, rarely sticking around long enough to see the sixth inning.
Cantillo has gone six consecutive starts without reaching six innings and carries a 6.75 ERA during that stretch. His history against Houston isn’t exactly inspiring either, with a 7.04 ERA in two career starts.
The Guardians also continue to deal with health concerns. Kyle Manzardo was limited to designated hitter duties because of back tightness, while Rhys Hoskins shifted over to first base.
LVSB Final Score Prediction
Houston appears to have all the advantages heading into Saturday night. Altuve may have finally found his swing, the Astros lineup is producing runs, and Arrighetti still profiles as the better starter despite his recent struggles.
Cleveland can be competitive, but relying on Cantillo to slow down Houston’s offense feels like bringing a garden hose to a wildfire.
