NY Mets vs Philadelphia MLB Preview & Pick

Moneyline: Philadelphia -135
Runline: Philadelphia -1.5 (+150)
Total: 9.5

The All-Star break is over, the cheesesteaks are cooling down, and Philadelphia gets rewarded with… the Mets. It’s like throwing a birthday party only to discover your gift is another pair of socks.

The Phillies return home after hosting the Midsummer Classic and still have plenty to celebrate. They’re 54-43, sitting in the NL Wild Card race and just two games behind Atlanta. Kyle Schwarber nearly gave Philly another Home Run Derby trophy, while Brandon Marsh is already dreaming about October baseball. Around here, playoff fever is back on the menu.

Philly Looking To Stay Hot

Aaron Nola (3-6, 5.75 ERA) doesn’t exactly have Cy Young numbers this season, but don’t let that fool you. He’s quietly finding his groove, posting a 3.75 ERA with an impressive 15-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his last two starts. Even better? He owns an 11-10 career record with a solid 3.42 ERA against the Mets.

If Nola keeps throwing strikes, Philadelphia’s offense should do the heavy lifting.

Can The Mets Wake Up?

The Mets stumbled into the All-Star break at 40-57, making “pain” their unofficial team slogan. Getting swept by Boston didn’t exactly inspire confidence, and now they’re walking into one of baseball’s loudest ballparks.

Christian Scott (2-1, 3.17 ERA) has been one of the few bright spots. He closed the first half with five scoreless innings against Kansas City and already owns a win over Philadelphia this season. The problem? Going deep into games has been about as rare as a Mets highlight reel this year.

LVSB Prediction

Philadelphia has momentum, home-field advantage and a fan base that’s still buzzing from All-Star week. The Mets have… optimism. That’s nice.

Final Score: Phillies 6, Mets 4
