Golden State vs Minnesota Preview & Prediction

Spread: Minnesota -10.0
Moneyline: Minnesota (-200)

Minnesota Can Smell the No. 1 Seed

The Minnesota Lynx host Golden State on Monday with Minnesota favored by 4.5 points and the total set at 161.5.

Minnesota enters 31-7, riding six straight wins and an absurd 16-1 run over its last 17 games. Apparently losing has become an optional activity in Minneapolis.

The Lynx can clinch the WNBA’s No. 1 playoff seed with a victory over Golden State, giving them considerably more motivation than your average late-August Monday night.

Miles Keeps Doing Everything

Olivia Miles continues making the rookie learning curve look fictional.

With Napheesa Collier resting Friday, Miles dropped 24 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals in Minnesota’s 94-84 win over Washington. She averages 20.0 points and 6.2 assists this season.

Collier is expected back after averaging 19.0 points and 7.4 rebounds, while Natasha Howard just posted 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

The concern is Courtney Williams, who has been ruled out with a right foot injury after producing 13 points, eight assists and six rebounds Friday.

Golden State Can Hang Around

Golden State enters 25-11 and trails Minnesota for the top seed, although that dream is currently hanging by dental floss.

The Valkyries are 0-3 against Minnesota this season, including a 77-66 loss last Wednesday. Still, Golden State’s depth can keep games competitive.

Janelle Salaun scored 15 points and Tiffany Hayes added 12 off the bench in that meeting. Against Chicago, Laeticia Amihere produced 16 points as Golden State’s reserves hilariously outscored its starters 51-19.

Nothing screams “stable rotation” like the bench carrying the entire building.

LVSB Prediction

Minnesota is clearly the better team and should finish the job at home, especially with Collier returning.

But 4.5 points feels slightly generous to a Golden State team sitting 25-11 with enough depth to make Minnesota sweat. Courtney Williams being unavailable also removes an important piece from the Lynx rotation.

We’ll split the difference: Minnesota wins, Golden State covers.

LVSB Pick: Golden State Valkyries +4.5

Moneyline Lean: Minnesota Lynx to Win

Total Lean: Under 161.5

Score Prediction: Lynx 81, Valkyries 78
