Texas vs Chi. White Sox MLB Preview & Pick
Moneyline: Chi. White Sox -135
Runline: Chi. White Sox -1.5 (+160)
Total: 8.0
Chicago’s Cinderella Story Refuses to End
The White Sox host Texas on Monday with Chicago listed at -135 on the moneyline, -1.5 (+160) on the run line, and the total sitting at 8.0.
Chicago enters 68-62 and somehow leads the AL Central by 3.5 games. Yes, those White Sox. The same franchise that spent the last few seasons treating one-run games like unpaid bills.
That has changed dramatically in 2026. Chicago is 23-20 in one-run games and already owns 11 walk-off wins after Tristan Peters ended Sunday’s 2-1 victory over the Mets with a ninth-inning homer.
Urquidy Gets the Start
Jose Urquidy enters at 2-1 with a 5.06 ERA, although his recent numbers are much prettier.
Since arriving from Pittsburgh, Urquidy is 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA. He threw six scoreless innings of bulk relief against the Cubs last Wednesday and owns a dominant 5-0 record with a 2.82 ERA in seven career starts against Texas.
Apparently the Rangers are his emotional support opponent.
Rocker Loves This Matchup Too
Texas counters with Kumar Rocker, who is 4-10 with a 4.46 ERA.
Those numbers look rough until you notice what he has done against Chicago. Rocker is 2-0 with a ridiculous 0.00 ERA across 11 innings against the White Sox, including six scoreless one-hit innings in a 10-0 win on July 21.
So naturally, both starting pitchers apparently transform into Cy Young candidates whenever they see the opposing uniform.
Texas enters at 65-66 and tied atop the AL West after winning consecutive series. The Rangers also allowed just 13 runs during their recent six-game homestand.
LVSB Prediction
This has playoff intensity written all over it, even if nobody expected these two teams to be involved back in April.
Chicago has been excellent in tight games, owns home-field advantage and gets a starter with strong historical numbers against Texas. At -135, the moneyline is more attractive than laying -1.5 in a matchup featuring two pitchers with excellent head-to-head histories.
The total of 8.0 also feels slightly high if both starters continue their success in this matchup.
LVSB Pick: Chicago White Sox ML (-135)
