Braves vs Brewers Betting Preview
Big Leagues Meet Little League
Milwaukee and Atlanta head to Williamsport for Sunday night’s Little League Classic, where big-league salaries meet childhood nostalgia and bettors somehow still manage to sweat every pitch.
The Brewers enter as -118 moneyline favorites, with Milwaukee -1.5 (+175) and the total sitting at 7.5.
Milwaukee has won six of its last seven, including the first two games of this series. Atlanta, meanwhile, has dropped five of six and scored two runs or fewer in every loss. Apparently the Braves packed everything for Williamsport except the offense.
Drohan Gets the Ball
Shane Drohan starts for Milwaukee with a 6-4 record and 3.86 ERA.
The rookie left-hander worked two scoreless relief innings during Tuesday’s absurd 22-0 destruction of Seattle. His previous start came against the Dodgers on August 13, when he allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in Milwaukee’s 5-4 victory.
Drohan has never faced Atlanta, but he gets a Braves lineup currently struggling to produce anything without a home run.
Garrett Mitchell and Andrew Vaughn should also enjoy the unique Williamsport atmosphere. Just remember, childhood memories are wonderful. They do absolutely nothing for your betting ticket.
Atlanta Needs a Spark
Tyler Mahle counters for the Braves at 4-10 with a 4.53 ERA, although those season numbers hide his recent improvement.
Since joining Atlanta from San Francisco, Mahle is 1-1 with an impressive 1.45 ERA across three starts. He allowed just two runs and six hits over 6 2/3 innings against Minnesota last time out but still took a 4-1 loss.
That pretty much summarizes Braves baseball lately: pitch well, receive three coupons and a handshake from the offense.
Mahle owns a 2-3 record with a 4.73 ERA in 10 career starts against Milwaukee.
LVSB Prediction
Mahle’s recent form keeps this competitive, but Milwaukee is simply playing better baseball. The Brewers have momentum, while Atlanta continues waiting for its bats to remember their job description.
At only -118, Milwaukee offers a reasonable moneyline price without needing a two-run victory.
