Cleveland has spent the season treating Detroit like a loyalty-program customer, going 9-2 against the Tigers and winning 14 of the last 17 regular-season meetings.
Naturally, Cleveland enters Saturday as a -162 moneyline favorite, with the run line at -1.5 (+140) and the Total at 7.0. But after Detroit somehow blew leads in both ends of Friday’s doubleheader, LVSB is expecting the baseball gods to finally issue a refund.
Messick vs Valdez
Parker Messick brings an excellent 11-8 record and 2.46 ERA for Cleveland, including a ridiculous 1.80 ERA over 10 starts since July.
But Detroit has actually bothered him. Messick is 0-2 with a 4.60 ERA while allowing five homers across 15 2/3 career innings against the Tigers.
Detroit counters with Framber Valdez (8-10, 4.36 ERA), who has dropped three of his last four starts while surrendering 14 earned runs in 23 1/3 innings.
Not exactly Cy Young brochure material.
Still, Valdez owns a solid 5-2 career record with a 3.43 ERA against Cleveland despite losing both meetings this season.
Tigers vs Guardians Betting Pick
Cleveland stole both games Friday, rallying from five runs down in the opener before Travis Bazzana helped erase another Detroit lead in Game 2. Brayan Rocchio also produced a grand slam and walk-off homer in the opener.
Detroit’s season is hanging by dental floss, but desperation can create betting value.
With Messick’s shaky history against Detroit and the Tigers sitting at a tempting +136, we’re fading Cleveland’s dominance and calling for the upset.
