Edmonton Oilers: Desperate Comeback Mode
Edmonton is sitting at -160 and somehow still in this series, which feels generous considering they are down 3-1 and flirting with elimination.
Connor McDavid is trying to carry this thing on one ankle and pure willpower. He still managed two points in each of the last two games, which is impressive when you remember he is not even 100 percent. But let’s be honest, slightly injured McDavid is still better than most players fully healthy.
The problem is the rest of the team has not exactly followed his lead. Defensive breakdowns, inconsistent scoring, and a goaltending carousel have turned this into a survival situation.
Tristan Jarry stepped in and gave them 34 saves in Game 4, which is about the best news Edmonton has had all week. Compared to the previous goaltending situation, this felt like discovering water in the desert.
There is still belief in that locker room. This team has made comeback runs before. But belief alone does not stop pucks or score goals. At some point, they need execution to show up.
Anaheim Ducks: Chaos Winning Games
Anaheim is one win away from sending Edmonton home, and they are doing it in the most chaotic way possible.
They have won three straight games, scoring 6, 7, and 4 goals like they are playing pond hockey instead of playoff hockey. Defense optional, vibes mandatory.
Lukas Dostal has been a huge part of this run. He made 24 saves in Game 4 and absolutely robbed McDavid late in regulation with a skate save that probably ruined a few Edmonton fans’ nights.
Then there is the power play. Anaheim is casually going 6-for-12 in the series, which is not just good, that is unfair. Jackson LaCombe and the unit are moving the puck like they have the cheat codes.
Up front, Cutter Gauthier and company are finding different ways to score every night. It is not one guy carrying them. It is everyone contributing just enough to keep winning.
The scary part for Edmonton is this. Anaheim is not even playing perfect hockey. They are just finding ways to win.
LVSB NHL Playoffs Prediction
Oilers at -160 feels like Vegas saying, “We know they are better… eventually… right?”
The total at 7.0 tells you exactly what this series is. Goals. Lots of them. Defense has been more of a suggestion than a strategy.
Edmonton should come out desperate. Anaheim will come out confident. One team is trying to survive, the other is trying to finish.
If McDavid is limited, that is a massive swing. If he plays and goes off, things get interesting fast.
But right now, Anaheim has momentum, confidence, and apparently unlimited power-play goals.
Score Prediction: Ducks 5, Oilers 4
Pick: Anaheim ML (+137)
Total: Over 7.0 (-110)
