Brooklyn Nets 2022-23 NBA Preview, Season Odds, Props & Futures Predictions

After Crazy Off Season Brooklyn has Stacked Team Ready to Compete for Title

If things go right for the Brooklyn Nets, the ceiling is an NBA title. That’s how it goes when you have three of the top players in the NBA at their various positions and skill sets plying their trade for your team.

On the other hand, there is no bigger “if” in the league than this dysfunctional band which somehow managed to keep the core of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons together, in spite Durant demanding a trade after the Nets refused to extend Irving. Add in the fact that Durant also asked owner George Tsai to fire coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks and it all adds up to a fragile foundation.

Still, in adding defensive stalwart Royce O’Neale and complementary scorer T.J. Warren to an immensely talented starting five, if the Nets can weather the early season storm and come together as a collective whole, the parts of this team is better constructed than when they had James Harden.

Simmons and Joe Harris both missed all of last season, but their elite defense and offense respectively are great compliments to what Durant and Irving bring to the table.

This is going to be one of the most fascinating chemistry experiments in recent memory.

Liev Jackson NBA Season Prediction on Nets:

As good an argument can be made for this team to realize its potential and win its first ever NBA Championship as can be made for the team imploding by the trade deadline. With that much variance at play here, my best advice is to proceed with caution and make small bets with the potential to pay off big.

I think Durant’s reputation has been put through the ringer this off season and he’s actually a player who cares about his legacy as an all-time great. Once he decided to rescind his trade request it became very much in his best interests to rally the troops and get down to the business on winning. I just wouldn’t want to bet on it, given his age and the injury and other history of both him and his supporting cast.
