Milwaukee welcomes Chicago on Monday with the NL Central lead on the line. The Brewers (88-56) sit seven games ahead of the Cubs (81-63) and enter as -126 moneyline favorites, with the run line at -1.5 (+165) and the Total at 8.5.
Both teams arrive after ugly Sunday losses. Milwaukee fell 12-8 to Cincinnati, while Chicago lost 10-3 to Miami despite Pete Crow-Armstrong’s 40th homer. Apparently, neither clubhouse ordered the defensive upgrade.
Gasser vs Boyd: The Rematch
Robert Gasser (4-5, 4.57 ERA) faces Matthew Boyd (8-3, 4.05 ERA) again after Milwaukee rallied from three runs down to win 9-4 last Tuesday.
Gasser allowed three runs, two earned, over 4 1/3 innings in that start. He has 82 strikeouts in 86 2/3 innings this season, but his 27 walks and 13 homers allowed leave room for trouble.
Boyd was charged with three runs over 5 1/3 innings before Chicago’s bullpen turned a 3-1 lead into a customer-service complaint. His August numbers were less convincing: 2-2 with a 5.23 ERA and nine homers allowed in five starts.
Cubs vs Brewers Betting Pick
Milwaukee has lost two straight, and Kyle Harrison lasted just 3 2/3 innings in each of his last two outings. Chicago also has a concern with Ian Happ, who was scratched Sunday because of left knee discomfort.
The Brewers get the home-field edge and have already shown they can get to Boyd and Chicago’s bullpen. But with both starters carrying some volatility, laying 1.5 runs feels less attractive than taking the moneyline.
