White Sox vs. Astros Betting Preview
Houston finally returned home after surviving New York with its dignity mostly intact. The Astros are 70-68 and still holding a two-game AL West lead over Texas, but consistency has been harder to find than a reasonably priced beer at the ballpark. Chicago enters at 72-65, and the White Sox are basically asking Houston one question: “You sure that division lead is safe?”
Starting Pitching: Pick Your Adventure
Houston is expected to bring back Ronel Blanco, who owns a terrifying 0-1 record with a 7.71 ERA. Blanco has walked 12 batters in only 23 1/3 innings this season and carries a 6.14 career ERA against Chicago. In July, the White Sox tagged him for five runs over 5 1/3 innings.
Chicago counters with Sean Burke at 7-6 with a 3.32 ERA. Burke walked a career-high eight hitters during his last start, which is certainly one way to keep the defense entertained. He has struggled against Houston, posting an 8.38 ERA across two career starts, although he struck out 10 Astros over six innings on July 25.
Tommy Pham Returns
Chicago added veteran Tommy Pham, who previously hit .266/.330/.380 with five homers and 19 RBIs over 70 games for the White Sox in 2024. At 38, Pham also brings 136 postseason plate appearances and an .823 playoff OPS.
Translation: Chicago added somebody who has actually experienced October without watching it from the couch.
LVSB Betting Prediction
Both starters have ugly matchup histories, but Chicago gets the pitching edge based on current numbers. Blanco’s 7.71 ERA makes laying anything with Houston uncomfortable, while the White Sox have enough offense to capitalize.
