Avalanche vs. Stars Game 4 Betting Preview, Prediction & Breakdown

Moneyline: Colorado -185 | Total: 6.0

Colorado Avalanche Outlook

Colorado revamped its roster to gear up for a deep playoff push, but those moves could mean nothing if they can’t get Game 4 under control. After taking Game 1 on the road, the Avalanche have dropped two straight overtime heartbreakers, putting them in a must-win situation at home to avoid staring down a brutal 3-1 series deficit.

Despite the urgency, Colorado’s offense has sputtered, particularly on the power play, where they’ve converted just two of 13 opportunities and completely whiffed on six chances in Game 3 alone. Coach Jared Bednar is tweaking the power-play units, even slotting Gabriel Landeskog into a bigger role after his inspirational return from a three-year absence.

Nathan MacKinnon has done his part with three goals, but Cale Makar and several of the Avalanche’s top-six forwards need to step up immediately. If Colorado wants to justify its -185 favorite status, they’ll have to be far more clinical in finishing their chances, especially with the Stars’ defense frustrating them at every turn.

Dallas Stars Outlook

The Stars head into Game 4 brimming with confidence, having stolen back control of the series despite missing key pieces like Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen. Their blueprint for success has been airtight defense, opportunistic scoring, and clutch performances from emerging players like Thomas Harley, who already has three points in the series.

Dallas has successfully shut down Colorado’s power play and limited high-danger chances, even with a depleted roster. Harley’s elevated play and steady goaltending have allowed the Stars to control the pace, slow down Colorado’s explosive attack, and take the crowd out of it when needed.

The Stars have shown they can win ugly, and if they maintain their structure, they’ll be in position to put Colorado on the ropes. Still, facing an Avalanche team desperate to respond, Dallas will need another tight, physical effort to stay ahead.

Betting Prediction

Colorado is too talented and too desperate to drop three straight. Expect a sharper, more urgent Avalanche performance, especially on special teams, where they’ll make key adjustments. Still, the Stars won’t make it easy—this could be another tight one that hinges late.

Pick: Avalanche ML (-185)
Prediction: Colorado 4, Dallas 3
Lean: Over 6.0 (-115) – With both teams likely pressing offensively, there’s real potential for this to break into a higher-scoring pace.
