Dallas heads to Arizona tonight for a preseason masterpiece featuring almost nobody you’ll see when the games actually count. The Cardinals are 1-point favorites, while the total sits at 37.5.
Both teams won their preseason openers, but Arizona already has an extra exhibition game under its belt after playing in the Hall of Fame Game. Experience matters, even when half the roster is still trying to learn where the cafeteria is.
Minshew Gets the Keys
Arizona will sit Jacoby Brissett and rookie Carson Beck, giving Gardner Minshew II his first Cardinals start.
Minshew is expected to play at least the entire first half before Kedon Slovis takes over. That extended playing time gives Arizona some unusual preseason quarterback stability, which is basically finding a five-star restaurant inside an airport.
The Cardinals will be without first-round running back Jeremiyah Love because of a high ankle sprain, while rookie guard Chase Bisontis is done for the season with an MCL tear.
Dallas Holds Auditions
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys starters will be spectators, leaving Sam Howell and rookie Joe Milton to battle for the backup quarterback job.
Both played well in the opener, giving Dallas a legitimate competition instead of the usual preseason strategy of “please just don’t throw it directly to the defense.”
Dallas also lost tight end Princeton Fant for the season after he suffered ACL and MCL tears.

There isn’t much separating these teams on paper, which explains Arizona laying only one point.
Minshew getting an entire first half is the biggest betting advantage. He brings plenty of NFL experience against Dallas reserves, while Arizona has also had an extra preseason game to evaluate and settle its depth chart.
The 37.5 total feels slightly ambitious for a game built around backups, roster cuts and coaches running plays they hope never appear again.
