Atlanta Dream: Almost Beat The Champs
Atlanta is currently treating moral victories like championship banners after nearly pulling off a comeback against Las Vegas. The Dream erased a 17-point deficit Sunday before losing 85-84, which is basically the basketball version of sprinting full speed into a glass door.
Still, Atlanta honestly looks dangerous.
The offense has not fully clicked yet, which should terrify opponents considering Allisha Gray is already averaging 25 points per game while casually carrying the scoring load like somebody hauling groceries upstairs alone.
Angel Reese has also brought toughness inside with 10.7 points and enough rebounds to make opposing forwards reconsider career choices. The only issue is injuries continue hanging around Atlanta like unpaid parking tickets. Rhyne Howard missed the last game in concussion protocol, while Brionna Jones remains sidelined.
Coach Karl Smesko keeps talking about “potential,” which usually means coaches are trying not to panic publicly. But in Atlanta’s case, he might actually be right.
Dallas Wings: Found Teamwork
Dallas suddenly discovered chemistry after Coach Jose Fernandez basically called the team selfish a few days ago. Apparently public embarrassment works wonders because the Wings immediately started moving the basketball like a functioning adult offense.
Paige Bueckers exploded for 24 points against Chicago while Jessica Shepard casually posted the league’s first triple-double with 18 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. Nothing screams “I’m feeling confident” quite like accidentally filling every statistical category on the scoreboard.
The Wings have now won back-to-back games after looking completely lost earlier this season. Bueckers praised the team’s willingness to pass up good shots for great ones, which is beautiful basketball terminology for “please stop launching terrible contested jumpers.”
Dallas already lost once to Atlanta earlier this month despite Gray dropping 26 points and Reese vacuuming every rebound within a five-mile radius. The Wings will need far better perimeter defense Friday unless they enjoy watching Gray turn into prime Michael Jordan again.
LVSB Final Score Prediction
Dallas finally looks organized offensively, but Atlanta’s home energy and overall physicality should become overwhelming late. If Howard returns, the Dream offense gains another dangerous scorer immediately.
Both teams can score, both defenses occasionally disappear, and both coaches probably need blood pressure medication already.
Final Score: Dream 92, Wings 84
Lean: Atlanta minus 5.5
