The Golden State Valkyries are walking into Indianapolis like the team nobody wants to see right now. Seven straight wins? Check. Best expansion story ever? Check. Defensive identity? Check. Basically, they went from “cute new team” to “please stop winning, you’re ruining everyone’s plans.”
Golden State (17-7) has been rolling behind a balanced attack and elite defense, holding their last seven opponents to just 68.4 points per game. Veronica Burton has been a nightmare matchup, averaging 12.3 points and recently exploding for 25 points and five blocks against Indiana.
The big question is Gabby Williams’ status. The Valkyries star is dealing with a back contusion, and missing her 15.0 points per game would be a massive blow against an Indiana offense that has been cooking.
Indiana Fever: Finding Their Rhythm
Indiana (14-9) is starting to look like the dangerous team everyone expected. The Fever have won four of their last five games and have scored at least 109 points three times over their last six contests. Golden State has already proven they can battle Indiana, but the Fever’s home-court advantage, offensive firepower and improved consistency make them the better side.
