Minnesota Twins vs. Baltimore Orioles – Game Preview and Prediction

Moneyline: Baltimore -144
Total: 9.0

Minnesota Twins Outlook

The Minnesota Twins are riding a scorching 10-game winning streak, the longest in the league this season. Their latest feat was sweeping a doubleheader against the Orioles on Wednesday, taking the games 6-3 and 8-6. That sweep also marked their fifth straight win against Baltimore this season, putting them in prime position to go for the clean sweep on Thursday.

Kody Clemens was the hero in Game 2, smashing a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning. “It’s all about trusting each other at the plate,” Clemens said. “We just keep passing the baton and it’s working.” Since joining the Twins in late April, Clemens has been a solid contributor, batting .227 with two home runs and six RBIs.

Minnesota has been relentless with the bats, putting up 14 runs across the doubleheader. The late innings have been especially productive, with five runs scored in the eighth and ninth innings combined, exposing Baltimore’s shaky bullpen.

On the mound, the Twins turn to Chris Paddack (1-3, 4.76 ERA), who is fresh off his best outing of the season. He gave up just one run and three hits over 7 1/3 innings against the Giants. While Paddack has had mixed results against Baltimore in the past (2-1 with a 6.19 ERA), he’s looking to keep the streak alive.

Baltimore Orioles Outlook

The Orioles are currently in a slump, dropping eight of their last ten games and sinking to 11 games below .500—a season-low. Their struggles were highlighted in Wednesday’s doubleheader, where they left 16 runners on base, failing to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Manager Brandon Hyde didn’t sugarcoat it: “We’ve had a tough time adding on. We created traffic, but we couldn’t get the big hits.” Gunnar Henderson and Ryan Mountcastle tried to spark the offense, combining for seven hits in the two games, but it wasn’t enough.

Baltimore will send Tomoyuki Sugano (4-2, 2.72 ERA) to the hill on Thursday. Sugano was lights out in his last start against the Angels, going 7 1/3 innings and giving up just one run. This will be his first career appearance against the Twins, and Baltimore is banking on his consistency to halt their losing skid.

Prediction and Final Score:

The Twins are riding high with momentum, while the Orioles are struggling to put it together offensively. With Minnesota’s lineup firing on all cylinders and Paddack coming off a strong start, the edge goes to the Twins. Expect Minnesota to secure the sweep with a 6-4 victory.
