Minnesota Lynx Betting Preview
Minnesota enters this Commissioner’s Cup matchup looking like the most complete team in the WNBA right now. The Lynx own the league’s best record at 6-2 and continue stacking wins behind elite defense, strong rebounding, and balanced scoring. Cheryl Reeve’s squad has now won four straight games, including a dominant 79-58 road victory over Chicago on Friday.
The Lynx continue thriving away from home with a perfect 4-0 road record, and the chemistry throughout the rotation has become one of the biggest betting advantages in the league. Nia Coffey delivered one of the best performances of her career against the Sky, scoring 20 points while drilling six three-pointers and grabbing eight rebounds. Minnesota’s depth continues creating matchup nightmares because multiple players can take over offensively on any given night.
Natasha Howard remains one of the most reliable two-way players on the roster. She already posted 14 points and 11 rebounds against Phoenix earlier this season when Minnesota escaped with an 88-84 road win on May 12. Howard’s physicality inside should once again become a major factor against a Mercury team struggling defensively during its losing streak.
Minnesota has also done an excellent job controlling tempo lately, forcing opponents into uncomfortable half-court possessions while limiting easy transition scoring. That formula has consistently translated into covers for bettors backing the Lynx during this recent surge.
Natasha Howard Prop Pick: Natasha Howard Over 8.5 Rebounds
Howard dominated the glass in the first meeting and should again see heavy rebounding opportunities against a Phoenix team struggling with efficiency and second-chance defense.
Phoenix Mercury Betting Preview
The Mercury continue searching for answers after dropping five consecutive games and falling near the bottom of the WNBA standings at 2-7. The recent road trip only added more frustration, especially after back-to-back losses against New York where Phoenix struggled badly offensively.
Kahleah Copper remains the engine of the Mercury offense despite inconsistent shooting performances lately. Copper scored 30 points against Minnesota earlier this season and continues carrying a massive offensive workload. Even during Friday’s loss to New York, she still managed 16 points despite shooting only 4-for-16 from the field.
The bigger issue for Phoenix has been consistency around Copper. The Mercury shot just 33.9 percent overall Friday while hitting only six three-pointers. Defensive lapses and scoring droughts continue crushing momentum during games, especially against elite teams capable of going on major runs quickly.
Coach Nate Tibbetts has continued preaching patience and resilience, but the schedule offers very little relief with the league-leading Lynx arriving in town during the middle of this difficult stretch.
Still, Phoenix remains dangerous offensively when Copper gets downhill aggressively and the supporting cast starts knocking down perimeter shots. If the Mercury can speed the game up offensively, they have enough talent to keep this competitive for stretches.
Kahleah Copper Prop Pick: Kahleah Copper Over 21.5 Points
Copper scored 30 against Minnesota earlier this season and continues seeing massive shot volume. Phoenix will likely lean heavily on her offense again Monday night.
WNBA Final Score & Expert Prediction
Minnesota simply enters playing cleaner basketball on both ends of the floor. The Lynx have the stronger defense, more reliable depth, and better overall rhythm entering Commissioner’s Cup play.
Phoenix should compete early behind Copper’s scoring, but Minnesota’s consistency and rebounding edge should take over late.
