The Cardinals head into Friday night’s matchup desperately seeking to break free from a five-game losing streak. After getting blanked 6-0 in the series opener, the pressure is mounting. St. Louis hasn’t suffered a skid this long since a seven-game drought last May, and their offense looked lifeless again Thursday, managing just one hit through six innings before Willson Contreras broke through with a leadoff single in the seventh.
Contreras has been a rare bright spot, batting .340 over his last 13 games with six doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBIs. Erick Fedde will take the mound for the Redbirds as they aim to end the slump. While Fedde has been solid lately, boasting a 2.63 ERA over his last seven starts, he hasn’t logged a win since May 9 and has historically struggled against Milwaukee (2-3 with a 5.88 ERA lifetime).

Milwaukee is coming off a strong Game 1 performance, sparked by an electric debut from Jacob Misiorowski, who fired five no-hit innings before being sidelined with cramps. The Brewers’ offense did its part, erupting in the fifth inning, including a two-run bomb by rising star Jackson Chourio.
