Cardinals vs. Brewers – Game Betting Preview & Prediction

St. Louis Cardinals Preview
The Cardinals head into Friday night’s matchup desperately seeking to break free from a five-game losing streak. After getting blanked 6-0 in the series opener, the pressure is mounting. St. Louis hasn’t suffered a skid this long since a seven-game drought last May, and their offense looked lifeless again Thursday, managing just one hit through six innings before Willson Contreras broke through with a leadoff single in the seventh.
Contreras has been a rare bright spot, batting .340 over his last 13 games with six doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBIs. Erick Fedde will take the mound for the Redbirds as they aim to end the slump. While Fedde has been solid lately, boasting a 2.63 ERA over his last seven starts, he hasn’t logged a win since May 9 and has historically struggled against Milwaukee (2-3 with a 5.88 ERA lifetime).
The Cardinals’ confidence hasn’t completely eroded, but they’ll need much more from their lineup to support a pitcher facing a familiar, challenging opponent.
Milwaukee Brewers Preview
Milwaukee is coming off a strong Game 1 performance, sparked by an electric debut from Jacob Misiorowski, who fired five no-hit innings before being sidelined with cramps. The Brewers’ offense did its part, erupting in the fifth inning, including a two-run bomb by rising star Jackson Chourio.
Veteran Freddy Peralta gets the start Friday and enters in excellent form. While he hasn’t earned a win this month, his combined 12-inning effort has yielded just three earned runs. Last time out, Peralta pitched six dominant innings, allowing only one hit, though the bullpen spoiled his line in a 1-0 loss to San Diego.
Historically, he’s had mixed results vs. St. Louis (4-6, 4.91 ERA), but he’s coming off a strong 2023 against them, going 1-0 with a 2.42 ERA in four starts.
With Christian Yelich and Chourio both swinging hot bats, combining for 11 home runs and 27 RBIs over their last combined 30 games, the Brewers appear poised to keep rolling.
Prediction
Milwaukee holds the edge in both pitching and momentum, especially at home. If Peralta stays sharp and the bats stay hot, the Brewers should extend the Cardinals’ misery.
