Vegas Golden Knights Betting Breakdown
Vegas walked into Denver and accomplished something no opponent had managed this postseason by beating Colorado on its home ice. The Golden Knights grabbed Game 1 with a disciplined 4-2 victory and suddenly hold full momentum entering Friday night.
Since John Tortorella took over late in the regular season, Vegas has transformed from a playoff bubble team into one of the NHL’s most dangerous road squads. The Golden Knights are now 5-2 away from home in the postseason and continue frustrating opponents with relentless forechecking pressure and structured defensive hockey.
Unexpected contributors continue stepping up as well. Defenseman Dylan Coghlan scored his first career playoff goal Wednesday, while Vegas once again controlled the pace through physical play along the boards and strong neutral-zone pressure.
The Golden Knights remain without captain Mark Stone, but they have adjusted well despite his absence. Carter Hart also delivered several massive saves in Game 1, including a key stop on Nazem Kadri late in the opening period that helped preserve momentum.
Vegas understands the situation perfectly. Stealing both games in Colorado would completely shift the series and place enormous pressure on the Avalanche heading to Las Vegas.
Colorado Avalanche Betting Breakdown
Colorado entered the Western Conference finals expecting to dominate at home, but Game 1 exposed several issues the Avalanche must quickly solve. The offense looked disorganized for long stretches, while Vegas consistently disrupted Nathan MacKinnon and Colorado’s top scoring lines.
MacKinnon managed only three shots on goal and admitted afterward the Avalanche simply lacked execution across the board. Colorado finally showed signs of life in the third period when Valeri Nichushkin and Gabriel Landeskog both scored to cut the deficit to one goal before Vegas sealed the win late.
Nichushkin’s line generated the best scoring opportunities throughout the game, especially around the crease where Colorado finally started forcing rebounds and traffic in front of Carter Hart.
The biggest storyline remains Cale Makar’s status. The superstar defenseman missed only the second playoff game of his career because of injury, and Colorado clearly missed his ability to move the puck cleanly against Vegas’ aggressive forecheck. Even if Makar returns Friday, there is still pressure on Colorado’s stars to respond with far more urgency.
The Avalanche know this game feels close to a must-win. Falling behind 2-0 before heading to Las Vegas would create a brutal uphill battle against one of hockey’s hottest teams.
NHL Playoffs Betting Prediction
Colorado should respond with stronger offensive pressure and far better energy after a disappointing opener. Vegas continues playing outstanding hockey, but the Avalanche desperation factor becomes impossible to ignore at home.
