Atlanta Dream Outlook
The Dream enter Saturday’s home matchup at 1-2, with every game this season coming down to crunch time and not in their favor. After Thursday’s narrow 81-76 defeat to the Indiana Fever, first-year head coach Karl Smesko made it clear that his team must improve in late-game situations. Atlanta has been competitive, but hasn’t yet figured out how to close.
Rhyne Howard has taken the scoring reins, averaging 18.3 points per game, while Allisha Gray (17.3 PPG) and Brionna Jones (16.7 PPG, 11.3 RPG) are producing at both ends of the court. Atlanta’s offense has the talent to break out, but unless they fix their fourth-quarter execution, they remain a risky favorite to cover.
Still, the Dream are at home and facing a winless opponent this is as much of a “get-right” game as it gets.

Dallas (0-3) is still searching for its first win of the season and desperately needs a jolt. Rookie sensation Paige Bueckers is showing promise, averaging 13.7 points and leading the team in assists (6.7) and steals (1.7), but she’s shooting just 37.1% from the floor. Adjusting to the pro level takes time, but she’s already flashing her potential.
Veteran guard Arike Ogunbowale is leading the way with 15.0 points per game and just matched Diana Taurasi’s pace in reaching 500 career 3-pointers an impressive feat that shows her scoring punch is still elite. Despite this, the Wings continue to struggle closing games and generating consistent defensive stops.
Dallas is dangerous if they find rhythm early but bettors will want to see consistency before backing them against the spread.
Prediction
Both teams are hungry for a win, but Atlanta’s depth and rebounding edge especially from Brionna Jones give them the upper hand at home. Expect another close one.
