Nationals Outlook: Weathering the Seattle Storm… Or Not
The Nationals are rolling into Seattle with about as much confidence as a cat in a bathtub. At 24-30 and clinging to fourth in the NL East like it’s the last breadstick at Olive Garden, they’re hoping to not be the Mariners’ next batting practice.
Trevor Williams will take the mound for Washington with a 6.39 ERA, which means Mariners fans might want to bring gloves, because balls are leaving the park faster than a Black Friday stampede.
James Wood has been a lone bright spot with 14 home runs and a swing smoother than Sinatra on a Saturday. But unless someone else shows up, the Nats might be singing the blues by the 4th inning.
