WNBA Preview and Prediction: Minnesota Lynx vs. Atlanta Dream
Spread: Atlanta -1.5 | Total: 156.5
Minnesota Lynx Breakdown
The 9-0 fairy-tale start feels distant. Since then, the Lynx are 3-2 and just coughed up a 68-64 clunker to Washington, scoring nine miserable points in the fourth. Alanna Smith’s 26-point, six-block eruption kept them in it, but Napheesa Collier’s bad back leaves a gaping hole on both ends. Minnesota still defends, yet the offense collapses when the threes stop falling (3-for-18 last game).
If Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams don’t catch fire early, another grind-it-out night looms.
Atlanta Dream Breakdown
Tuesday’s 68-55 face-plant in Dallas was brutal: 23.4 percent shooting, seven makes on 34 threes, largest defeat of the season. Allisha Gray (19.7 PPG) and Rhyne Howard (17.7 PPG) rarely whiff that badly twice in a row, and Karl Smesko’s group usually forces tempo at home.
With Minnesota thin inside minus Collier, Atlanta can attack the rim, loosen the defense, and let perimeter looks come naturally instead of jacking early threes.
Prediction:
Expect the Dream’s offense to rebound while Lynx shooting remains streaky. Lay the short number and lean under; pace slows if Minnesota bricks again and Atlanta lives at the line.
