2025 MLB All-Star Game Preview: NL vs AL – Bombs, Banter & Baseball Glory

Total: 7.5

The Stage Is Set (and So Is the Bragging)

The All-Star Game is back, baby, and it’s hotter than a midsummer grill in the South! This year’s glitter-soaked showdown lands in Atlanta’s Truist Park, where stars will shine, egos will flex, and baseballs will fly out faster than grandma’s potato salad at a July 4th picnic.

And guess what? The National League is a -112 favorite, which makes sense when you’ve got flamethrower Paul Skenes starting and Shohei “I Do Everything” Ohtani casually DH-ing like it’s another Tuesday. The total sits at 7.5 runs, but we all know All-Star pitchers throw heat… for about 12 pitches before being replaced by another Cy Young candidate. So buckle up.

National League: Skenes & Friends (a.k.a. Fire and Power)

Let’s start with Mr. Two-Timer himself: Paul Skenes. The man is just 23 and already has as many All-Star Game starts as you have expired gym memberships. The Pirates right-hander is throwing a league-best 2.01 ERA while receiving all the run support of a lonely T-ball dad. Still, he’s on the short list of legends like Ichiro and DiMaggio. Not bad for a guy who can’t legally rent a car without a fee.

The NL’s lineup is basically a fantasy team gone wild. You’ve got:

  • Shohei Ohtani swinging from his heels like Thor with a bat.

  • Freddie Freeman, who’s back in Atlanta like an ex who got hot after the breakup.

  • Ronald Acuña Jr., who literally owns this ballpark’s soul.

  • Ketel Marte, Francisco Lindor, Will Smith, and Manny Machado, all capable of sending moonshots to another dimension.

Add Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker for outfield swagger, and you’ve got a squad so stacked even fantasy baseball managers are jealous.

Prediction: NL 5, AL 3. Yes, it’s close. No, Skenes doesn’t give up a run. And yes, Shohei hits one into the Chattahoochee.

American League: Skubal and The Surprise Squad

Representing the AL is Detroit’s own Tarik Skubal, who’s gone from “Who?” to “Cy Young front-runner” in about 17 starts. Five years ago, he was throwing meatballs. Now, he’s serving gourmet sliders with a side of nasty fastballs. Respect.

The AL lineup is sneaky scary:

  • Aaron Judge leads the charge with the power of a small freight train.

  • Cal Raleigh is mashing taters for Seattle like he’s running a home-run farm.

  • Gleyber Torres and Riley Greene will set the table like it’s Thanksgiving.

  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is here to hit moonshots and chew gum (and he’s all outta gum).

  • Then it’s O’Hearn, Caminero, Baez (wait, he’s back?), and rookie sensation Jacob Wilson, who may or may not be too young to rent a car too.

Manager Aaron Boone, the only active guy to play and manage in an All-Star Game, leads the AL with vibes and a clipboard.

Key Stat: The AL has owned the NL 10 of the last 11 years. But streaks are made to be broken. And Skenes brought the scissors.

Final Word: It’s All Fun ‘Til Someone Gets Dinger’d
This game’s got everything, phenoms, veterans, comeback kids, and one guy named Shohei doing both jobs better than most people do one. Expect fire on the mound early, followed by fireworks at the plate.

Official (and very scientific) Prediction:

Final Score Prediction: National League 5, American League 3
