Philadelphia Phillies Betting Outlook

The Phillies (83-60) enter this four-game set with a seven-game cushion over the Mets in the NL East. Just two weeks ago, that lead was trimmed to four games when New York swept them in Queens. Since then, Philly has responded by winning seven of their last 10, putting real breathing room between themselves and their rivals.

However, Sunday’s 5-4 loss in Miami stung, not just in the standings but also with Trea Turner leaving due to a hamstring injury. His absence looms large at the top of the order, especially in a critical series like this. Aaron Nola (3-8, 6.78 ERA) gets the ball, and while he owns a decent career line against New York (10-10, 3.54 ERA), his current form is shaky. He was shelled by Milwaukee last week and continues to struggle avoiding blow-up innings.

New York Mets Betting Outlook

The Mets (76-67) have cooled off since their August sweep of Philadelphia, losing six of their last 10 and dropping ground in the playoff race. They’ll rely on rookie sensation Nolan McLean (4-0, 1.37 ERA), who has been lights out through his first four starts. He’s already proven he can shut down this Phillies lineup, having tossed eight scoreless frames against them in August.

That dominance will need to continue, as the Mets’ bats have gone cold. Francisco Lindor has said all the right things about “staying the course,” but New York has managed just three hits in Sunday’s loss at Cincinnati and remains inconsistent at the plate.

MLB Prediction & Betting Angle

MyBookie Oddsmakers have the Mets pegged as slight road favorites, and the number makes sense: McLean is hot, while Nola is cold. With Turner sidelined and the Phillies’ lineup thinner than usual, New York’s pitching advantage looks even stronger.

Score Prediction: Mets 5, Phillies 3
Pick: NY Mets (-119)
Total: Under 8.5 (-101)
