San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview

The Spurs head into Minnesota as -5.5 favorites one victory away from reaching the Western Conference Finals, and the biggest reason has been the complete dominance of Victor Wembanyama on both ends of the floor.

San Antonio Spurs completely controlled Game 5 with a 126-97 victory after Wembanyama returned from the controversial ejection that changed Game 4 earlier in the series. The Defensive Player of the Year responded exactly the way superstars are expected to, finishing with 27 points and 17 rebounds while once again making life miserable for Minnesota inside the paint.

San Antonio’s defense has quietly become the real story of this matchup. The Spurs are holding Minnesota to just 41.4 percent shooting while constantly disrupting rhythm with active hands and rim protection. Wembanyama’s presence alone has completely changed how aggressively the Timberwolves attack the basket.

The Spurs have also received huge contributions from their younger supporting pieces. Dylan Harper continues delivering efficient offense while shooting 54 percent in the series, and Stephon Castle has consistently punished Minnesota defensively with aggressive drives and transition scoring.

What stands out most about San Antonio right now is balance. They are not depending entirely on Wembanyama offensively because the supporting cast keeps generating reliable production.

If the Spurs continue forcing difficult perimeter shots and controlling the glass, they have an excellent chance to close this series Friday night.

Spurs Player Prop Pick: Victor Wembanyama Over 26.5 Points + Rebounds
Wembanyama continues dominating this series physically, and Minnesota still has no consistent answer for his size and activity around the rim.

Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Preview

The Timberwolves suddenly face elimination after one of their worst playoff performances of the season in Game 5.

Minnesota Timberwolves struggled badly offensively Tuesday night and now return home desperately needing a response similar to last year’s postseason comeback against Denver.

The pressure once again falls heavily on Anthony Edwards.

Edwards remains Minnesota’s primary offensive engine, but the lack of consistent help around him has become a major issue throughout this series. The Spurs’ defense has completely disrupted both Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle, who both shot efficiently against Denver in Round 1 but now look uncomfortable against San Antonio’s physical defense.

McDaniels’ foul trouble has especially damaged Minnesota’s defensive flexibility. Edwards openly acknowledged how important McDaniels remains to the Timberwolves’ success because his perimeter defense impacts everything they do defensively.

Minnesota still has reasons for optimism, though.

This team already proved last postseason it can respond under elimination pressure after rallying from a 3-2 deficit against Denver. The Timberwolves historically play much faster and more aggressively at home, and Edwards usually elevates his scoring when facing elimination scenarios.

The key Friday becomes pace and physicality. Minnesota cannot allow San Antonio to comfortably dictate tempo again.

Timberwolves Player Prop Pick: Anthony Edwards Over 26.5 Points
Edwards should attack aggressively from the opening possession knowing Minnesota’s season could end Friday night.

NBA Final Score & Expert Prediction

Minnesota should play with tremendous urgency at home, but San Antonio’s defense has consistently looked like the stronger unit throughout this series.

Wembanyama’s impact around the rim continues changing everything offensively for the Timberwolves, while the Spurs’ younger supporting cast keeps making timely plays.

Expect Edwards to deliver a huge individual performance, but San Antonio’s depth and defensive structure should keep this game extremely close throughout.

Final Score: Timberwolves 113, Spurs 109
Lean: San Antonio +5.5

Over 218.5
