Los Angeles Angels Betting Outlook
The Angels finally get a look at the arm they invested heavily in during the offseason, but the timing could hardly be more difficult.
Los Angeles Angels will hand the ball to Grayson Rodriguez for his season debut Sunday night as they attempt to avoid getting swept in the Freeway Series. Rodriguez has not pitched in a major league game since July of 2024 after dealing with major elbow and shoulder issues that completely wiped out his 2025 campaign.
The talent has never been questioned. Rodriguez went 20-8 with a 4.11 ERA across two seasons in Baltimore and was viewed as one of baseball’s top young starters before injuries interrupted his momentum. The Angels believe they are finally getting a healthy version back after multiple rehab outings and months of recovery work.
Still, this assignment feels brutal for a pitcher making his first appearance in nearly two years.
The Dodgers enter absolutely scorching hot offensively after scoring 30 runs during their current four-game winning streak. The Angels pitching staff has struggled badly containing traffic on the bases throughout this series, and Rodriguez may be limited in pitch count during his return outing.
The Angels need quick offensive responses early if they want to stay competitive. Falling behind against this Dodgers lineup usually becomes a disaster quickly.
Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Outlook
Right now, the Dodgers look exactly like the terrifying offensive machine most people expected entering the season.
Los Angeles Dodgers demolished the Angels again Saturday with a 15-run explosion and continue rolling offensively despite injuries throughout the pitching rotation.
The return of Mookie Betts has added another major spark. Even though Betts has only four hits since returning from injury, two of them left the yard, reminding everyone how dangerous this lineup becomes when healthy.
The Dodgers now turn toward Roki Sasaki, who desperately deserves better run support than he has received most of the season. Sasaki enters with a 1-3 record and 5.88 ERA, but his numbers fail to fully reflect how inconsistent the offense had been behind him earlier this year.
Now the rookie right-hander finally gets a lineup producing at an elite level.
Manager Dave Roberts also continues relying heavily on Sasaki with Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow both unavailable. The Dodgers need him stabilizing the middle of the rotation, especially during this stretch of injuries.
The matchup against a rusty Rodriguez heavily favors Los Angeles offensively, particularly with the Dodgers swinging confidently throughout the lineup.
MLB Prediction & Betting Angle
The Angels could eventually benefit greatly from Rodriguez later this season, but asking him to immediately slow down the hottest offense in baseball feels unrealistic.
The Dodgers are crushing opposing pitching right now, and their lineup depth creates constant matchup problems from top to bottom. Sasaki should also benefit from facing an Angels offense that has struggled generating consistent pressure this series.
Expect another high-scoring game with Los Angeles controlling the middle innings offensively.
