Arizona vs St. Louis MLB Preview & Pick

Moneyline: St. Louis -122
Runline: St. Louis -1.5 (+170)
Total: 7.5

Weather Delay Rematch

The rain may have postponed this showdown, but the betting market never sleeps. St. Louis returns home as the -122 moneyline favorite after dropping two of three games in Arizona last week. The Diamondbacks head into town with plenty of confidence after crushing the Athletics 15-5, while the Cardinals escaped their previous series by squeezing out just one win despite scoring only four total runs. One lineup is swinging flamethrowers, the other is searching for Wi-Fi.

Arms Doing Work

Brandon Pfaadt (4-1, 4.58 ERA) has gone from bullpen exile to one of baseball’s hottest pitchers. Since rejoining the rotation on June 30, he’s 4-0 with a sparkling 2.14 ERA and already shut down St. Louis once last week by allowing two runs over 5 1/3 innings. Even former Cardinal Nolan Arenado admitted facing Pfaadt was never enjoyable because the right-hander seems to own an unlimited pitch menu.

Quietly Dominant Stretch

Michael McGreevy (4-7, 2.92 ERA) has been just as impressive. The Cardinals right-hander owns a 1.46 ERA over his last four starts and has completed at least six innings every time out. He also faced Arizona less than a week ago, allowing only one earned run across 6 1/3 innings before St. Louis escaped with a 5-4 victory. Manager Oliver Marmol has every reason to keep trusting his young starter.

Offensive Wake-Up Call

Arizona’s bats suddenly look like they discovered the cheat codes, while St. Louis has been treating runs like limited-edition collectibles. If this turns into another pitching duel, every scoring opportunity will matter. Still, home field and McGreevy’s recent form give the slight edge to the Cardinals.

Final Score: Cardinals 4, Diamondbacks 3
Lean: St. Louis ML (-122)
