Baltimore Orioles Betting Outlook
Baltimore Orioles arrive in St. Petersburg trying to forget Monday’s absolute disaster after getting hammered 16-6 in the series opener. The Rays lineup looked like it was playing batting practice, and Baltimore’s pitching staff had absolutely no answers once the game started spiraling.
The Orioles have now dropped 12 of their last 18 games and desperately need somebody to stop the bleeding before the AL East race gets completely out of control.
There is at least some potential good news coming. Former top prospect Jackson Holliday could make his season debut after completing his rehab assignments following hamate surgery. Baltimore badly needs a spark offensively after losing infielder Jordan Westburg for the season.
The pressure now falls on right-hander Kyle Bradish to stabilize things on the mound. Bradish enters this matchup coming off his best outing of the year after dominating the Yankees with six scoreless innings and allowing only one hit.
Still, Tampa Bay has traditionally given him problems. Bradish owns a 5.94 ERA in seven career starts against the Rays, and pitching inside this ballpark against a confident Tampa lineup is rarely comfortable.
Baltimore’s offense also needs much more from its middle order. After Monday’s embarrassment, expect a more aggressive approach early in counts as the Orioles try avoiding another bullpen meltdown.
Tampa Bay Rays Betting Outlook
Tampa Bay Rays continue looking like one of the most dangerous teams in baseball, especially at home where they have completely overwhelmed opponents this season.
Monday’s 16-run explosion improved Tampa Bay to 17-5 at home, and the lineup suddenly looks deep from top to bottom. Six different players recorded multi-hit games in the opener, while the Rays continued showing why they remain one of baseball’s smartest organizations when it comes to developing pitching.
The latest experiment involves Griffin Jax.
After struggling badly as a reliever earlier this year, Tampa Bay shifted Jax into the starting rotation and the results have been excellent. Over his last four starts, Jax owns a 1.29 ERA while allowing only two earned runs across 14 innings.
His command still needs improvement after issuing seven walks during that stretch, but hitters have struggled generating hard contact against him. Tampa Bay clearly believes it has uncovered another successful pitching conversion project.
Jax also has excellent career numbers against Baltimore out of the bullpen, posting a 1.80 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 10 innings against the Orioles.
Offensively, Tampa Bay keeps producing traffic on the bases at an elite rate. The Rays have dominated American League opponents all season and continue getting timely hitting throughout the lineup.
After watching Baltimore’s pitching completely unravel Monday, Tampa Bay should enter Tuesday extremely confident offensively once again.

Baltimore should play with more urgency after getting embarrassed in the opener, and Bradish is capable of keeping games competitive when his command is sharp.
Still, Tampa Bay’s offense is rolling right now, and Griffin Jax continues thriving inside the Rays’ rotation system. The Rays also carry a massive confidence edge at home where they have consistently punished struggling pitching staffs.
Baltimore may keep this game closer than Monday, but Tampa Bay’s lineup depth and bullpen advantage remain difficult to fade.
