Arizona Diamondbacks: Sluggin’ Through the Altitude

The Diamondbacks enter Coors Field like a kid at an all-you-can-eat buffet ready to feast. Arizona’s bats are hotter than a vinyl car seat in Phoenix, torching opposing pitchers with a .450 slugging percentage (that’s not a typo, it’s a warning). Eugenio Suárez recently went 4-for-5 like he was playing MLB The Show on rookie mode. And Merrill Kelly? He’s quietly become the adult in the room, posting a 3.41 ERA while likely wondering how many runs he needs to not get a no-decision in Denver’s gravity-free zone.

The D-backs have taken 3 of 4 in the season series, and based on their recent 14-8 barbecue of Colorado’s pitching staff, they’re not here for sightseeing, they’re here to hit baseballs into orbit.

Colorado Rockies: Where Hope Goes to Die (and ERA Goes to Inflate)

Let’s just say this gently: the Rockies have 17 wins and 59 losses. That’s not a baseball record, that’s a cry for help. Their home ERA might as well be measured in gallons. Carson Palmquist, Saturday’s starter, enters with a 7.76 ERA and a WHIP so high it may need FAA clearance. Still searching for his first win, Palmquist is basically throwing batting practice at altitude.

The team’s one glimmer? Ryan McMahon occasionally hits baseballs very far. Otherwise, this team struggles harder than a tourist on a Colorado hiking trail with no water and a bad attitude.

Gambler’s Gut Check

Arizona’s on a heater and has actual playoff ambitions. Colorado? They’re trying to not lose 120 games. The Diamondbacks are favored at -195 and rightfully so. At a total of 12, the sportsbooks are just begging you to expect fireworks, mostly from one side.

Final Score Prediction:

Kelly gets the W. Palmquist gets altitude sickness. Suarez hits another one into the parking lot. And the Rockies bullpen sets another local air quality alert.

Final Score Prediction: Diamondbacks 11, Rockies 5
