Indiana Fever: Road Trip Revenge
Caitlin Clark heads back to San Francisco, the exact location where her jump shot previously entered witness protection. Last season against Golden State, Clark went a glorious 1-for-7 from deep and looked like somebody trying to shoot basketballs during turbulence on an airplane.
Naturally, that means she’s probably about to torch them now.
The Fever roll into this matchup riding a three-game winning streak, and Clark has been playing like someone who took all the “slump” comments personally. Over her last three games, she’s averaging 25 points while drilling 13 three-pointers and stacking double-doubles like a gambler chasing same-game parlays at 1:47 a.m.
Indiana also had five full days off, which in basketball terms basically means everyone got rebooted like a frozen WiFi router.
Clark rested her sore back, waved the green flag at the Indianapolis 500, and now returns looking refreshed. That’s terrifying news for defenses because rested Caitlin Clark usually means logo threes, transition chaos, and fans screaming before the ball even leaves her hands.
Aliyah Boston continues quietly doing all the dirty work while Kelsey Mitchell remains capable of erupting offensively at any moment. The Fever offense has become significantly more dangerous lately because they’re finally moving the ball instead of standing around watching Clark attempt superhero missions every possession.
And now Vegas is giving Indiana even money?
That smells suspicious. Like casino buffet shrimp suspicious.
Golden State Valkyries: Expansion Team Energy
The Valkyries are 4-2 and suddenly acting like the expansion team nobody wants to play. Monday’s 97-70 demolition of Connecticut looked less like a basketball game and more like a workplace HR violation.
Golden State also got a major boost from Juste Jocyte finally arriving after what felt like the longest international layover in basketball history. The rookie immediately hit her first two shots and instantly became the newest Bay Area celebrity not working in tech.
Coach Natalie Nakase practically gave a TED Talk praising her confidence afterward.
The Valkyries have been excellent defensively all season and deserve credit for making Clark uncomfortable in previous meetings. Through three career games against Golden State, Clark has averaged only 14.3 points while shooting barely 34 percent overall.
That’s the good news.
The bad news is this version of Indiana looks significantly sharper offensively than those earlier matchups. Also, asking a young expansion team to consistently slow Clark down four straight times feels like tempting basketball karma.
Golden State’s home crowd will be electric, but eventually talent usually crashes the party.
Prediction
Golden State keeps it close early before Clark starts launching heat checks from zip codes normally reserved for Uber drivers.
The Fever finally flip the script in San Francisco and cash beautifully at even money.
Final Score: Fever 88, Valkyries 82
