Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks: The Battle of the Middle Children of the NL West

Moneyline: Diamondbacks (-112)
Total: 9.0

It’s the final showdown in Phoenix as the Arizona Diamondbacks (21-19) take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (26-14). Both teams have been scrapping it out like two siblings fighting for the front seat in the family car, and Arizona surprisingly has the edge with a 2-1 series lead.

The Diamondbacks are rocking a .333 on-base percentage, good for sixth in the National League. Not bad for a team that has been hovering around .500 like it’s a comfortable old sweater. At home, they’re as balanced as a Jenga tower after a couple of beers, sitting at 11-11. But hey, they seem to be finding their groove against the Dodgers.

On the mound for Arizona, Zac Gallen (3-4, 4.37 ERA) is ready to throw some heat or at least some moderately warm air. He’s rocking 49 strikeouts, and if he can keep the ball in the park, the D-backs might just sneak away with another win.

For the Dodgers, it’s Tony Gonsolin (1-0, 4.09 ERA), who has been doing just enough to keep his ERA respectable. But let’s be real, when you’ve got Shohei Ohtani smashing 12 home runs and slugging .649, Gonsolin’s job is pretty much “don’t blow it.” Add in Teoscar Hernandez’s recent tear (17 for 41 with five doubles and three homers), and the Dodgers’ lineup looks more loaded than a Vegas buffet.

But hold your horses, Arizona’s got some pop too. Geraldo Perdomo is swinging at a .293 clip with eight doubles and five bombs. Lourdes Gurriel has been on fire, going 13 for 40 with four doubles and three homers in his last 10 games. If these two can stay hot, the Diamondbacks might just send the Dodgers back to LA with their tails between their legs.

Prediction: Arizona finally steps up and takes the series with a 6-4 win. Gallen finds his rhythm, Perdomo goes yard, and the Diamondbacks ride off into the sunset with a grin while the Dodgers wonder what just hit them.

Final Score Prediction: Diamondbacks 6, Dodgers 4
Moneyline:
Arizona -112
Total: Over 9.0
