Los Angeles Remembered It’s Good
The Dodgers looked mildly broken after a 5-10 start to August, then apparently rebooted the machine and swept both Colorado and Pittsburgh.
Los Angeles enters Tuesday as a -157 moneyline favorite, with the Dodgers -1.5 (+110) and the total set at 8.5.
Now Tyler Glasnow returns from the injured list for his first appearance since May 6. Glasnow is 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA and owns a 2-1 record with a nasty 1.95 ERA in five career starts against Atlanta.
Because apparently adding Glasnow to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki and potentially Shohei Ohtani seemed necessary.
Very subtle roster construction.
Elder Holds the Fort
Atlanta counters with Bryce Elder, who enters 8-7 with a 3.92 ERA.
Elder has been excellent lately at Truist Park, allowing only one run in three of his last four home outings. He last worked August 16 against Arizona, throwing six innings of one-run, four-hit baseball with five strikeouts and one walk.
He also dominated Los Angeles on May 10, allowing just one hit across 5 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out eight in Atlanta’s 7-2 victory.
Elder is 2-1 with a 4.20 ERA in six career starts against the Dodgers.
Atlanta Feeling the Heat
The Braves salvaged their road trip with a 4-2 win over Milwaukee in Williamsport, but they still dropped five of seven.
Worse, Philadelphia has turned the NL East race into a horror movie. Atlanta’s division lead has shrunk from 9.5 games to just three in less than two weeks.
Nothing promotes relaxation like watching a comfortable division lead evaporate before Labor Day.
LVSB Prediction
Elder’s recent home form makes Atlanta dangerous, but Los Angeles enters hotter and gets a major rotation boost with Glasnow returning.
At -157, we prefer the Dodgers moneyline rather than trusting Glasnow’s workload enough to lay 1.5 runs.
The 8.5 total feels slightly high with both starters capable of controlling this matchup.
