New York vs Atlanta Preview & Prediction

New York Liberty: Winning Without Their Cheat Code

The Liberty continue to rack up victories despite missing Sabrina Ionescu for most of the season. Apparently New York decided that losing one superstar wasn’t challenging enough.

Now riding a five-game winning streak, the Liberty head to Atlanta looking to steal first place in the Eastern Conference. Breanna Stewart has been her usual unstoppable self, averaging 20.5 points per game and reminding opponents that guarding her is more of a suggestion than an actual strategy.

Jonquel Jones has also been a force, contributing 13.1 points and a team-high 9.5 rebounds per contest. Together, they’ve helped New York keep winning while opponents keep checking the injury report hoping Sabrina suddenly won’t be listed there.

Spoiler alert: she’s still very good, even from the bench.

Atlanta Dream: Reese Is Collecting Rebounds Like Pokémon

The Dream have quietly climbed to the top of the East, and a lot of that credit belongs to Angel Reese.

Atlanta’s newest star enters Thursday with five consecutive double-doubles, averaging 13.6 points and a league-leading 12.2 rebounds per game. At this point, opposing teams should probably just let her keep the basketball after missed shots because she’s grabbing it anyway.

Reese also knocked down her second three-pointer of the season Tuesday. Somewhere, defenders immediately started sweating.

The Dream’s supporting cast has been equally impressive. Allisha Gray leads the team with 19.2 points per game, while Rhyne Howard contributes 17.9. Combined with one of the league’s stingiest defenses, Atlanta has become a legitimate contender.

And yes, first place is officially on the line.

LVSB Final Score Prediction

This matchup feels like two speeding trains meeting on the same track.

Atlanta owns one of the WNBA’s best defenses. New York owns one of the league’s hottest winning streaks. Something has to give.

The Dream’s rebounding advantage and home court could become the deciding factors. Reese has been dominating the glass, while Atlanta continues to limit opponents’ scoring opportunities.

New York is dangerous, but asking them to extend their streak against one of the league’s best defensive teams on the road feels slightly ambitious.

Slightly.

If Angel Reese keeps vacuuming up rebounds, New York might need to request a second basketball just to get a possession.

Final Score:  Dream 84, Liberty 78
Lean: Atlanta Dream -4.5
