The Indiana Fever opened their season with a dominant 93-58 victory over the Chicago Sky, and they’ll look to keep that momentum rolling as they host the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night. Indiana enters as an 8-point favorite with the total set at 175.0, and for good reason their offense looked sharp, their defense was stifling, and Caitlin Clark wasted no time making WNBA history.
Clark dropped a triple-double in her pro debut 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists while Aliyah Boston added 19 points and 13 boards. The Fever held Chicago to a meager 29.1% shooting while knocking down nearly 47% of their own shots. Their aggressive, high-effort defense resulted in a flagrant foul on Clark and technicals on both sides in a dust-up with Angel Reese, adding extra fuel to what already looks like a fiery season.
Atlanta Dream
Meanwhile, Atlanta comes in off a tight 94-90 loss to Washington, where they shot well offensively but struggled on the defensive end, allowing 50.8% from the field and nine triples. All-Star guard Allisha Gray led the Dream with 25 points, and new addition Brittney Griner made a solid debut with 18 points and eight boards.
The Dream certainly have scoring talent, but until they tighten things up defensively, they may struggle against elite offenses and the Fever, thanks to Clark and Boston, might just be one of those teams. Indiana looks like they’re playing with a chip on their shoulder, and that energy could overwhelm a Dream team still working through chemistry issues.
Betting Prediction:
Back the Fever -8 to cover on their home floor. Their physical defense and Clark’s all-around brilliance are already clicking. Atlanta’s porous perimeter defense and road setting make it a tough spot for them. Expect Indiana to control the tempo and cover comfortably.
