Buffalo Sabres Betting Breakdown

The Sabres suddenly look nothing like the disciplined team that dominated the Atlantic Division during the regular season. After opening this series with a strong Game 1 victory, Buffalo has completely unraveled over the last two contests and now enters Game 4 trailing 2-1.

Game 3 actually started perfectly for Buffalo after scoring just 53 seconds into the opening period, but everything quickly fell apart afterward. Poor puck management, defensive breakdowns, and costly turnovers allowed Montreal to dictate pace for most of the night in a convincing 6-2 victory.

Alex Tuch openly admitted his performance in Game 3 was among his worst defensive efforts of the postseason. That honesty matters because Buffalo desperately needs its veteran leaders to regain form immediately. Tuch was outstanding in the opening round against Boston, producing seven points with four goals and three assists, but Montreal has completely neutralized him through three games.

The biggest concern for Buffalo is defensive structure. The Sabres built their success all season on responsible two-way hockey, but against Montreal’s speed and aggressive transition attack, Buffalo has repeatedly been caught out of position.

The pressure now shifts heavily onto Buffalo because a 3-1 deficit against a confident Montreal team would feel extremely difficult to overcome.

Still, the Sabres have enough offensive skill to bounce back quickly if they simplify their approach and avoid the self-inflicted mistakes that buried them over the last two games.

Montreal Canadiens Betting Breakdown

Montreal has completely flipped the momentum of this series and now looks like the faster, more confident team entering Game 4 on home ice.

The Canadiens have scored 11 goals across the last two games while exposing Buffalo’s defensive weaknesses repeatedly. Montreal’s speed through the neutral zone and aggressive forecheck continue forcing turnovers that quickly become scoring opportunities.

Alex Newhook has become one of the biggest stories in the series. The forward now leads Montreal with five playoff goals, including four during the last two games alone. His recent scoring surge has given the Canadiens dangerous secondary offense beyond their top line.

Montreal’s confidence has clearly grown as the series progresses. Defenseman Kaiden Guhle emphasized the importance of continuing to pressure Buffalo aggressively rather than sitting back defensively. That attacking mentality has worked extremely well so far.

The Canadiens are also receiving balanced contributions throughout the lineup, which becomes especially valuable during deep playoff series. Multiple scoring threats combined with strong crowd energy at home have made Montreal increasingly difficult to slow down.

Defensively, Montreal has done an excellent job limiting Buffalo’s transition game while forcing the Sabres into uncomfortable decisions with the puck. If that pressure continues, Buffalo could once again struggle creating clean offensive opportunities.

NHL Playoffs Betting Prediction

Momentum heavily favors Montreal entering Game 4, and the Canadiens appear to have discovered the exact formula needed to frustrate Buffalo consistently.

The Sabres are talented enough to respond, especially with desperation building, but their defensive issues and turnover problems remain major concerns against a Montreal offense currently playing with confidence.

The Canadiens’ speed advantage and home-ice energy should continue making life difficult for Buffalo throughout this matchup.

The total of 6.0 feels reachable again considering how open the last two games became once Buffalo started chasing the score.

Score Prediction: Canadiens 4, Sabres 2
